And we’re off!
The kiln is in - hoorah!
To say I was stressed on the delivery day is an understatement. I waiting all day and finally a very kind delivery man turned up and wheeled my heavy kiln up the steep driveway. Now I knew the palette it arrived in wouldn’t fit through the garage door, but I expected the kiln to go in without much space spare.
I was wrong.
Off came the door, which wasn’t as straightforward as it should have been as the hinges were rusty and the screws damaged. There was a moment when I genuinely thought the door wouldn’t come off and I had no idea what to do. But, it all came good in the end.
The kiln is now in place and currently running its initial firing before I can use it with my pottery. It hasn’t blown up or caught fire so it seems to be going well. Now all I need is a wheel which I was hoping to have received already but the delivery is delayed. I do have some clay so I can start hand building while I wait.
The refurb of the garage is now complete, minus a few finishing touches. I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out and really glad I went for it. It’s such a big financial commitment but I think it’ll all be worth it long term.
